What is Geothermal Energy?

Geothermal systems use clean and sustainable energy from the Earth. This energy comes from hot water and rock miles beneath Earth's surface as well as shallow ground, less than ten feet below the surface. Shallow ground maintains a pretty consistent temperature of 50-60 degrees fahrenheit. Geothermal heat pumps use these underground temperatures to heat and cool your home.

Reasons for switching to geothermal

1. Geothermal energy reduces carbon footprint

Geothermal systems use energy from the Earth to heat and cool your home. By not requiring fossil fuels geothermal energy is considered green, ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

2. Constant resource + longer system lifespan

The geothermal system is buried 4-5 feet underground where it pulls its energy from. This energy is not subject to rising and falling temperatures, it is a constant supply. This also means that the system is unexposed to weather and inclimate conditions, requiring less maintenance and repair over its lifetime.

3. Saves money

According to the EPA, geothermal pumps save 30-70% on heating and 20-50% on cooling costs compared to conventional systems. This could save up to $1500 annually.
